Matthew May is a nationally recognized commercial real
estate and retail advisor, expert, speaker, and contributing author. From
development and national retailer representation to project leasing and
investment sales, Matthew has seen and worked all sides of the retail real
estate segment.
As a strategic advisor, Matthew provides guidance to
regional and national retail operators, individual and institutional investors,
family offices, and developers in matters concerning commercial real estate
acquisitions, expansion, dispositions, restructuring, and intelligence.
Recognized by the Los Angeles Business Journal, City of Beverly Hills, and
CoStar for his accomplishments and contribution to the industry, Matthew has
been called to serve as an expert witness on cases involving retail real estate
and often participates on panel discussions on related topics.
Matthew founded May Realty Advisors (MRA) on the premise
of delivering institutional level service with an entrepreneurial approach.
Focusing on providing advisory based on street-level, hands-on experience and
intelligence gained from decades of working with retail tenants, sellers, and
developers, on all aspects of a deal, MRA is proud to have worked and consulted
on projects from L.A. to Taipei. In addition, the MRA team has worked with
TIAA, Citibank, Macy’s, Douglas Emmett, Simon, DeBartolo Development, and
Realty Income, among many others.
Matthew recently celebrated his 30th anniversary in the
industry and closing over $2 billion in real estate transactions.
Matthew is a founding member of two nationwide commercial
real estate organizations, the Retail Brokers Network and the Capital Markets
Real Estate Association. He is also a member of the Association of Corporate
Real Estate Executives, the International Council of Shopping Centers, and the
Urban Land Institute.
